Limidae: Lima (Lima) nimbifer  Iredale, 1924 ('cloud file-shell')  

Synonym(s): nimbifer Iredale, 1924 multicostata Sowerby, 1843 (non Geinitz, 1839) benthonimbifer Iredale, 1925 gemina Iredale, 1929 spectata Iredale, 1929 tropicalis Iredale, 1929 persquamifer Iredale, 1939.

Typical shell-length 20 mm. Valves are strongly bilaterally asymmetrical; shell is quite solid and usually opaque. Lives subtidally and offshore amongst sponges, especially in exposed environments.  Native. Occurs all around Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS, VIC, SA, WA and NT); also widespread elsewhere in warm seas.  In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread species but seldom common; most likely to be found in the E.
